Fourteen Filipino journalists were chosen as grant recipients of the “Media for One Health Project” of Canal France International (CFI), the French Embassy in the Philippines and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Included in the list are Cignal TV journalists Jove Francisco (Anchor and Senior Manager, Cignal TV), Yeddha Pascual (Mobile Journalist – Health) and Francis Orcio (Mobile Journalist – Environment). Journalists from other regions like Palawan News, Minda News, Sunstar and GMA complete the lineup
The 14 grant recipients from the Philippines will soon interact with counterparts from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and produce reports funded by the project.
The “Media for One Health” launches in Southeast Asia with the aim to strengthen the knowledge and skills of media in select countries in the production and diffusion of information related to the “One Health” approach. The aim is to allow the fellows to understand, decipher and make intelligible to the general public the complexity of health and environmental issues and their impacts.
This project also aims to ensure that the media also develop a positive and unifying discourse by promoting adaptation solutions implemented at local, national and international levels.
The grant announcement was held in New World Hotel and was attended by French Ambassador in the Philippines Marie Fontanel, Health Secretary Ted Herbosa, DENR OIC Asec. Jacqueline Caancan and former health officials Manuel Dayrit and Vicente Belizario Jr.
